Heidi POP on Wikimedia Commons: Free Images to Celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Johanna Spyri

On the occasion of the upcoming bicentennial of Johanna Spyri (1827–2027), author of Heidi and one of Switzerland’s most influential literary figures, I have organized and made publicly available the Heidi POP series on Wikimedia Commons.

This series is part of my ongoing visual research on Swiss iconography, popular culture, and contemporary reinterpretations of characters that inhabit the collective imagination. Through color, humor, and a neo‑pop language, Heidi POP proposes new readings of Heidi’s figure within today’s cultural context.

All images are available under a free license, allowing their use in:

• academic research

• cultural and museum materials

• digital publications

My intention is to contribute to the open circulation of contemporary images related to Heidi, especially in a year when her cultural relevance will be celebrated throughout Switzerland and beyond.
